PJ MORTON TO HEADLINE FRENCH QUARTER FESTIVAL 2026
New Community Partnerships Deepen Festival’s Commitment to Louisiana Music and Culture

New Orleans (Feb. 19, 2026) — French Quarter Festivals, Inc. (FQFI) today announced that Grammy Award-winning New Orleans native PJ Morton will headline the 2026 French Quarter Festival. Morton leads an expansive lineup of Louisiana talent including legends like Bobby Rush and the Sally Baby’s Silver Dollars who are set to perform April 16 through 19.

Morton has not performed at French Quarter Festival since 2014, making his 2026 headlining appearance a highly anticipated homecoming. Since his last performance at the festival, Morton has earned multiple Grammy Awards and international acclaim while continuing to champion the rich musical traditions of his hometown.

“New Orleans raised me musically, spiritually and creatively,” said PJ Morton, a Grammy Award-winning artist. “I haven’t performed at French Quarter Festival since 2014, so returning to headline feels full circle. No matter where I go in the world, this city is home, and there’s nothing like bringing our music back to the community in a space that’s free and open to everyone.”

Investing in Free Music for Everyone

This year, the network of support behind French Quarter Festival is growing. FQFI announced that Airbnb has joined as a Music Performance Sponsor, supporting the more than 1700 Louisiana artists who will take the stage during the four-day celebration. Their sponsorship of French Quarter Festival builds on a larger citywide commitment, helping ensure that live music stays free and accessible to residents and visitors alike.

“New Orleans has a soul you can’t find anywhere else, and musicians are the heart of it,” said Nia Brown, Public Policy Manager at Airbnb. “We’re proud to support a festival that keeps this culture accessible and rooted in the community. Investing in live music is one way we can help support what makes this city so special.”

Airbnb joins a strong network of partners who help sustain the festival’s performance program. Cornerstone investments from longtime partners such as the Music Performance Trust Fund (MPTF), American Federation of Musicians Local 174-496, the Helis Foundation, and the New Orleans Tourism and Cultural Foundation (NOTCF)  play a critical role in ensuring musicians are compensated while performances remain free to the public.

Returning sponsor Mike’s Amazing will also support the festival’s music mission through its Mike’s Amazing Airstream Café in the Jax Brewery Lot. A curated Cuban-Creole menu will be served throughout the weekend, and 100 percent of proceeds from all Airstream sales will be donated to FQFI to support programming.

“Producing a free, four-day festival of this scale requires both community and corporate partnership,” said Emily Madero, President and CEO of French Quarter Festivals, Inc. “From national brands to long-standing arts funders and local supporters, these investments ensure we can continue our mission of keeping the festival open to everyone.”

Join the Celebration

French Quarter Festival returns April 16-19, 2026. More than 1,700 local musicians are expected to perform during this year’s festival, reinforcing FQFI’s ongoing commitment to providing paid performance opportunities and sustaining New Orleans’ cultural economy. As traditional funding sources shift and production costs rise, FQFI invites community-minded individuals and organizations to participate through performance sponsorships or contributions of any amount.

The 2026 festival also features the work of official poster artist Anne Lipscomb, whose commemorative designs are currently available for presale online. French Quarter Festival Returns April 16-19 at a New Riverfront Park, Bringing More Music and a 5K Run

April 16-19, 2026

New Orleans (Feb. 3, 2026) — French Quarter Festivals, Inc. (FQFI) announced highlights for the 2026 French Quarter Festival, the nation’s largest free celebration of Louisiana music, food and culture. The four-day festival returns to the French Quarter from April 16–19, 2026, inviting locals and visitors alike to experience live music, local cuisine and the unmistakable spirit of New Orleans.

“Each year, French Quarter Festival brings the culture of New Orleans to life in a way that feels both authentic and welcoming,” said Emily Madero, president and CEO of FQFI. “We’re excited to be expanding our footprint and look forward to welcoming our community to celebrate the music, food and traditions that make the French Quarter unlike anywhere else.”

What’s new in 2026

A Bigger Festival Footprint, Expanded Music Programming, and a New 5K run

French Quarter Festival 2026 marks a year of exciting growth and expansion, bringing more music, more flavor, and more ways to experience the festival than ever before. As the festival and the city continue investing in the future of the French Quarter, this year introduces thoughtful changes that enhance the attendee experience while honoring the historic neighborhood that makes the event so special.

This year, the festival footprint expands along the Mississippi River with a new site in Goldring Woldenberg Riverfront Park at Governor Nicholls Wharf. “Expanding access to the riverfront from Crescent Park offers locals and visitors an unmatched view of the Mississippi River,” said Michael J. Sawaya, chief executive officer of Audubon Nature Institute and L. Ronald Forman Chair of Conservation Leadership. “We look forward to partnering with French Quarter Festival to introduce this beautiful park to the community.”

The new riverfront park site adds green space and opens additional programming opportunities along the Mississippi River. Guests can enter along the riverfront or access the park at the foot of Esplanade Avenue, adjacent to the French Market and New Orleans Jazz Museum.

Music lovers can look forward to more live music than ever before, including additional Thursday performances. This year, several stages will appear in new locations. The Pan-American Life Insurance Group Stage will return in 2026 at Governor Nicholls Park at the foot of Esplanade, and will feature four full days of programming.

Due to construction at the New Orleans Jazz Museum, the Louisiana Fish Fry Stage will temporarily move to the riverfront in front of the Audubon Aquarium. The stage will highlight an expanded mix of DJs and brass bands, adding a strong street music presence to the festival footprint. Its schedule will also extend to four days.

The House of Blues Voodoo Garden Stage will further expand the music lineup with four full days of stage programming and a special Thursday night FQF After Dark show at the iconic venue, keeping the music going after the festival closes on opening night. Festival-goers can also visit the House of Blues Fest Family VIP Lounge in Jax Lot throughout the weekend, styled in the venue’s signature look for an immersive on-site experience.

As the New Orleans Jazz Museum undergoes exciting updates, it will remain a major festival site, hosting programming Friday through Sunday, including performances at the Loyola University Esplanade in the Shade Stage and the Songwriter Stage.

Expanding how attendees experience the festival beyond music and food, French Quarter Festival will introduce a 5K race in 2026. Taking place Saturday, April 18, the race will combine fitness, community, and celebration through the French Quarter. Registration opens Feb. 3, with details available at https://runsignup.com/fqf5k.

Give a little, groove a lot!

FQFI invites community to support live music that powers French Quarter Festival

Each year, French Quarter Festival presents more than 300 performances by Louisiana artists, providing a world-class platform for the musicians who define New Orleans’ sound and culture.Although the festival generates revenue through sponsorships and beverage sales, production costs exceed what the event can raise on its own. In 2026, French Quarter Festivals, Inc. anticipates a $500,000 funding gap to sustain the cultural impact the festival creates.

To support long-term sustainability, FQFI is launching its first full-scale grassroots fundraising effort during the festival. Admission remains free, and attendees are invited to give as they are able. A suggested donation of $5 for Fest will help maintain the volume and quality of cultural experiences the community relies on. Rising production and security costs, reduced public funding, and growing community need make new funding approaches essential. Contributions will directly fund paid performance opportunities for approximately 1,800 local musicians while keeping the festival accessible to all.

Donations can be made online or in person throughout the festival weekend. Attendees can scan the $5 for Fest QR code or connect with Donation Team members at major sites. Additional ways to give include tipping at official beverage booths and opting into a round-up contribution at points of sale. Every dollar supports local musicians, strengthens cultural traditions, and helps ensure inclusive programming remains a shared community experience for generations to come.

Sponsors and Fans Keep the Festival a FREE Community Event

French Quarter Festivals, Inc. is proud of its 42-year history of providing high-quality community events that welcome locals and guests. To keep the festival free and open to the public, the organization relies heavily on the contributions of sponsors and partners, as well as beverage and merchandise sales. We also recognize and appreciate all of our festival fans who contribute to our success by purchasing merchandise and upgraded festival experiences, becoming a musical performance sponsor, and donating directly to our organization throughout the year.

New Orleans (April 17, 2025) — French Quarter Festivals, Inc. (FQFI) proudly celebrates the successful conclusion of the 2025 French Quarter Festival presented by Chevron, which took place April 10–13 throughout the historic Vieux Carré. This year’s festival brought together music lovers, food enthusiasts, families, and visitors from near and far for four days of unforgettable performances, culinary delights, and authentic New Orleans experiences.

“Louisiana takes immense pride in its music, cuisine, and culture — and French Quarter Festival presented by Chevron is a true reflection of that spirit,” said Emily Madero, President & CEO of French Quarter Festivals, Inc. “This year, we were fortunate to enjoy beautiful weather all four days, an incredible gift that allowed us to shine an even brighter spotlight on our local businesses, musicians, and the cultural traditions that define New Orleans. None of this would be possible without the dedication and passion of our crew, volunteers, first responders, sponsors, and community partners who work tirelessly behind the scenes to bring this magical event to life. The festival is a truly collaborative effort, and we’re deeply grateful to everyone who helps make it such a special experience for locals and visitors alike.”

While the energy and excitement of French Quarter Festival are felt most vividly in the crowds along the riverfront, the festival’s impact extends far beyond attendance. As one of New Orleans’ signature cultural celebrations, the event plays a vital role in strengthening the local economy, promoting the city’s creative community, and preserving the cultural heritage that makes New Orleans a global destination, especially during a time when large gatherings face increasing challenges.

Showcasing Local Culture And Heritage

This year, the festival’s reach extended well beyond the French Quarter, generating over $88 million in earned media value for our 1700 local musicians and 70 food vendors through national and international coverage across online platforms, television, and radio. This positive media attention helps reinforce New Orleans’ reputation as a vibrant, resilient, and welcoming city where music, food, and culture take center stage.

Producing High-Quality Events and Instilling Increased Pride in the People of New Orleans

FQFI strives to produce high-quality events and activities that showcase the local culture and heritage and instill increased pride in the people of New Orleans. The beloved festival continues to deepen the community’s connection with the event. With nearly 700 respondents surveyed, 82% responded with a 10 out of 10, indicating they would highly recommend the event with friends, family, and visitors, helping to grow and sustain New Orleans’ cultural economy.

Contributing to Economic Well-being

For the city’s celebrated culinary community, the festival offers more than just exposure — it provides a vital opportunity for chefs and restaurants to preview seasonal menus, reach new audiences, and generate significant income. The 70 independent food vendors participating in this year’s festival reported earnings of $3.6M, proving a vital financial boost ahead of the slower summer months.

A Tribute to Community, Music, and Tradition

This year’s festival was a vibrant tapestry of sounds, flavors, and experiences that captured the essence of Louisiana’s rich cultural heritage. The KIPP New Orleans Regional High School Choir drew appreciative crowds to Ernie’s Schoolhouse Stage in its new home on the Natchez Wharf, while the New Orleans Jazz Museum at the Jazz Museum housed three stages of diverse performances. Xeno Moonflower’s acoustic guitar set drew fans inside to the Entergy Songwriters stage, providing an intimate backdrop for original music. Meanwhile, outdoor stages kept things sizzling with performances by the Red Wolf Brass Band on the Louisiana Fish Fry Stage and the Creole String Beans on the Loyola University Esplanade in the Shade Stage. The Willow Pharmacy DJ Stage became a sea of smiles and movement, with line dances and legendary performances from DJ Jubilee, Raj Smoove, and ANTWIGADEE! This year, debuts included Tyrone Duhon & Double Standard Zydeko on the Chevron Stage, Ryan Batiste and Raw Revolution on the Abita Stage, and Roi Anthony on the Jack Daniel’s Stage. The Nayo Jones Experience serenaded festival fans with the smooth sounds of a jazz and R&B fusion on the Pan-American Life Insurance Group Stage. Favorites like John Boutté and Wendell Brunious performed on the NewOrleans.com Stage powered by New Orleans & Company in Jackson Square.

Honoring Culinary Tradition and Embracing Innovation

This year’s expanded culinary lineup featured more than 70 celebrated restaurants and chefs from across Louisiana, reinforcing French Quarter Festival’s reputation as one of the region’s premier food destinations. Recently voted one of USA Today’s 10 Best City Food Festivals (2025) for its culinary excellence and diversity, the festival proudly continued its tradition of spotlighting both beloved favorites and emerging talent.

This year’s vendors reported earnings of $3.6 million, providing a vital financial boost ahead of the slower summer months. “The culinary scene at this year’s French Quarter Festival exceeded all expectations,” said Tia Henry, Head Chef at Cafe Dauphine and returning food vendor. “What makes this festival so special is its ability to gather locals and visitors who are genuinely passionate about authentic New Orleans cuisine. After participating in festivals throughout the years, we always look forward to the enthusiasm and appreciation we experience at French Quarter Festival.”

With six exciting debuts — including innovative pop-ups and family-owned establishments — the festival demonstrated its ongoing commitment to welcoming new vendors who are pushing the boundaries of New Orleans’ culinary scene. From Orleans Brothers’ signature award-winning gumbo to Dingtea’s refreshing mango sando and Thai Nola’s Thai-style fried rice, the food offerings reflected both the deep-rooted traditions and the creative evolution that define Louisiana cuisine. Festivalgoers were treated to a variety of flavors, offering fresh experiences for both first-time guests and returning fans.

The Mike’s Amazing Culinary Stage featured an impressive roster of New Orleans’ most celebrated chefs. Building on last year’s success, this year’s lineup brought even more interactive demonstrations from Nori Guys, Addis NOLA, Fritai NOLA, Vaucresson Sausage Co., and Mrs. Wheat Pies. Festival-goers experienced daily happy hour conversations highlighting craft cocktails alongside this year’s host, Chef Kevin Belton.

Family Fun and Hands-On Discovery

The weekend’s magical moments began with the beloved Opening Day Kickoff Parade, where hundreds of fans strolled the streets led by the sounds of the New Birth Brass Band, New Wave Brass Band, Family Affair Brass Band, Black Magic Drumline, and Kings of Brass. As the parade concluded, Jackson Square transformed into a sea of onlookers, awaiting the arrival of local dignitaries, the blessing of the weather, and the official start of the 2025 French Quarter Festival, presented by Chevron.

In addition to food and music, family fun remains a top priority in FQFI’s programming. The festival’s commitment to education and family engagement was on full display with the return of the Chevron Children’s STEM Zone. This year’s STEM Zone invited families on board the new Riverboat CITY of NEW ORLEANS for an extra special voyage of discovery! Over 7,000 curious minds of all ages experienced this dockside adventure, where they learned about the wonders of maritime science and marine biology through hands-on activities. Community partners included Audubon Nature Institute, NASA Astro Camp, Project Lead the Way, The Water Institute, NAMI St. Tammany, STEM NOLA, Pontchartrain Conservancy, and Northshore Technical Community College.

Modern Festival Experience:

Wellness, Accessibility, and  Technology

This year, FQFI introduced an expanded wellness initiative through the new “Keeping You Well” program in partnership with the festival’s official healthcare partner, LCMC Health. On-site healthcare providers offered comprehensive first aid services at strategic locations throughout the festival grounds. Key wellness offerings also included free sunscreen dispensers distributed throughout the festival, providing attendees with handheld fans to stay cool, promoting healthy eating choices on festival menus, and the return of the Touro LCMC Health Nursing Nest.

The festival continues to prioritize accessibility and festivals for all. FQFI reintroduced accessible viewing areas for attendees who use wheelchairs or have significant mobility challenges, as well as ADA-compliant portable restrooms. Expanded access programming included the introduction of American Sign Language (ASL) interpretation at select performances at the Tropical Isle Hand Grenade Stage. Before the festival, attendees could request specific musical acts to be interpreted. Benny’s Sensory Activation Vehicle was also on-site, providing a welcoming space for guests with sensory processing considerations.

FQFI furthered its goal to preserve cultural traditions while modernizing the festival experience by successfully implementing a cashless payment system for all food, beverage, and merchandise locations. Major credit cards and digital payments were accepted, making lines move more quickly, so everyone spent more time enjoying the weekend’s entertainment. A convenient on-site cash exchange station ensured that all attendees could participate, regardless of their preferred payment method.

Keeping the Festival Green and Growing

The enormous free four-day event is made possible through the generosity of committed volunteers. FQFI welcomed the support of over 700 volunteers and more than 100 generous sponsors to operate the 4-day, 22-stage event, proving that French Quarter Festival is truly by and for the community.

FQFI remains committed to reducing the festival’s environmental footprint through its Geauxing Green sustainability program. In 2025, the expanded waste reduction program collected over 28,000 pounds of recycled materials and an additional 40,000 pounds of compost, creating a cleaner, greener celebration for both festival-goers and the city’s public spaces. Festival producers attributed this year’s success to a refined back-of-house sorting process, the addition of dedicated crew members, and an expanded glass recycling program, all made possible through support from the Gulf of America Alliance, National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration Office for Coastal Management, The RosaMary Foundation, Schmelly’s Dirt Farm, REALcycle, and Glass Half Full.

Extending the Celebration: After Dark and Special Events

The celebration continued each night after festival gates closed with “FQF After Dark” events at partnering venues throughout the French Quarter, featuring exclusive performances by festival artists and special food and beverage offerings.

Festival attendees also witnessed history come alive Saturday morning as the Louisiana Museum Foundation and Louisiana State Museum | Cabildo commemorated the 200th Anniversary of the Marquis de Lafayette’s visit to New Orleans. Lt. Governor Billy Nungesser introduced a captivating historical re-enactment of Lafayette’s historic address from Jackson Square on the NewOrleans.com Stage powered by New Orleans and Company.

Sponsors and Super Fans: Keeping the Festival Free for All

French Quarter Festivals, Inc. extends sincere gratitude to the sponsors, supporters, and fans whose generosity fuels the festival year after year. Through merchandise sales, VIP upgrade fundraisers, performance sponsorships, or direct donations, every gift helps sustain free cultural experiences for all.

A limited edition of 600 signed and numbered artist-proof silkscreen prints measuring 18″ x 24″ will be available for $100 each. This year marks two significant anniversaries: the 200th anniversary of Lafayette’s visit to New Orleans and the 50th anniversary of the Steamboat NATCHEZ.

On Saturday, April 12, 2025, the Louisiana Museum Foundation will host a special event in partnership with The Louisiana State Museum | Cabildo to kick off French Quarter Fest in Jackson Square and to celebrate the 200th Anniversary of the Marquis de Lafayette’s visit to New Orleans. Enhanced Festival Experience

Expanded Access, Sustainability, and Cashless Operations

FQFI is committed to enhancing the festival experience for all attendees. Accessibility improvements this year include a pilot program for sign language interpreters at select stage performances. For inquiries and suggestions regarding accessibility services, including consideration requests for live ASL interpretations, please contact access@fqfi.org.

FQFI’s Geauxing Green initiative minimizes waste and improves the festival’s environmental sustainability. To maintain the use of 100% recyclable or compostable service items for the public, the festival prohibits outside food and beverages. Recycling and composting stations are conveniently placed across all festival sites to support this commitment. Funded by the Gulf of Mexico Alliance, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration Office for Coastal Management, and the RosaMary Foundation, Geauxing Green aims to achieve an 80% waste diversion rate this year, thanks to the efforts of over 400 dedicated volunteers. Volunteer registration opens on February 20 for roles in recycling, composting, and logistical support.

The 2025 festival will be a cashless event for the first time, with food, beverage, and merchandise booths accepting major credit cards and digital payments only. On-site cash exchange opportunities will be available.

Stay tuned for the full schedule of music, food, and special events, which will be released in early March. Visit frenchquarterfest.org or follow us on Instagram (@fqfest) for updates.
